Cara Rintala seeks dismissal of Granby murder case

Cara Rintala’s attorney Chauncey Wood urged a judge to dismiss Rintala’s case as her 4th trial approaches, stating that prosecutors would be relying on speculation if she is tried again. Rintala was originally convicted of killing her wife in 2010. CIFS submitted an amicus brief on her behalf citing the one-off technique of a paint expert which testified to the drying time of paint that covered the crime scene and the victim, Annamarie Cochrane Rintala. Rintala was granted a new trial in 2021 and released on bond.

No new decision has been released. Jury selection for the upcoming trial is set to take place September 6th, 2023.
